Taylor's Wish Stocking Project {North Alabama Children's Photographer}

Although I have yet to meet Taylor face-to-face, this girl has touched my life already. I was contacted by her mother several months ago for a photo session through Littlest Heroes Project. I was pretty excited, as this was my first LHP session and I love helping where I can (although usually I'm not sure exactly how I can help, but I can always take portraits!). Taylor's mother, Tammy, and I were in touch back and forth for weeks. It seemed like every time we would schedule an appointment, something would come up. Not just those little things that you or I are accustomed to (such as "Oh no! It's raining!" or "I just don't feel well today")... but REAL things. Things like a funeral for a child who had such a short life, doctor appointments hours away... things that are a daily part of this thirteen-year-old's life.

I've copied this from Tammy's facebook events page to share with you all...

Sept 5th 2006, Taylor Hendrix was diagnosed with Osteosarcoma.

She spent so much time at Children's, between surgery, chemotherapy, trips back and forth from home weekly for 10 months. Taylor was cancer free for 18 months then in Nov 2008 relapsed with a spot in her right lung.

Taylor had lung surgery and 9 months of chemotherapy again. During all this treatment, Taylor thought so much of the other children going through what she had gone through and wanted to do something for them.

In Dec 2007 Taylor started "Taylor's Wish Stocking Project". The first year she filled and took over 80 stockings to the cancer floor.

She did this on Christmas Eve, when most families are home celebrating Christmas with their family. Taylor knew this is when she needed to be there, because those kids could not be home with their families to celebrate, instead they were at the hospital having treatment. Taylor wanted to do something to brighten the day for them, if only for a short time.

We could not have done this on our own. Without the help of so many kind friends, like each of you, it would not have been possible. SO many people we have never met, but out of the kindness of their hearts wanted to do something to help, to be a part of "Taylor's wish" .

If you find it in your heart to help, we would appreciate it and feel Blessed to have you be a part of "Taylor's Wish".

I am going to do my best to help. Aside from the personal donations that I can try to make, I am also donating 50% of proceeds from every holiday session booked between right now and November 15th. I will deliver the proceeds to Taylor, along with whatever else you guys would like to donate (toys, books, anything!), at that time.

Book now!!! Your holiday session will come with a $50 print credit, 25 custom Christmas cards, and the joy of helping Taylor as she brings happiness to the children at Children's Hospital.

with great change comes great sacrifice...

Okay, so I'm being a little dramatic here. The "great change" I'm referring to is something you'll probably notice starting in June. Prices are changing!!

Of course, I've already mentioned the session prices. Print prices will also be raising a bit to accommodate the prices for an amazing print lab that I've recently signed up with. During this transition, I will provide you all with a discount code that can be used for 15% off of print purchases for the entire month of June. Not only that, but you'll also receive 15% off of session packages when you book and pay for your session in June!! Hopefully that will make this transition quick and painless. ;)

Proofs will take 2-3 weeks to be available from your session, at which time you will have 2 weeks to place your order. After 2 weeks, your session will be archived. You may expect your prints in 2-4 weeks!!

I will also be providing payment plans. If you know you would like several prints but do not have the money to pay for them all in that two weeks that your proofs are up, you may send an order form along with half of the payment to me. I will order your prints, and as soon as the remainder of your fees have been paid I will deliver your prints to you!

My referral system will be getting kicked into high gear this season!! I expect for my referral cards to be in within the next week or two. Every session paid in full will receive 10 referral cards. Pass these out to your friends! Each friend who books a session via your referral card will receive 10% off of their session. You, in turn, will receive a free sheet of your choice from your session for every referral booked!! Not a bad deal, eh? We all love freebies!

I know that I said earlier that wedding packages would remain the same for now... well, I may have fibbed a little. I didn't realize that it was a fib at the time, if that makes you feel better. I've just had some ideas and inspirations since then and, well, you know how it is when you start organizing ONE thing... it spills over into the whole house. :) I just couldn't leave my wedding packages all shabby when my sessions and prints were getting spruced up and classy for you guys! ;)

I've got some awesome new products lined up with this amazing lab... things like metals, murals, acrylics, and gorgeous panorama albums. I cannot wait to have samples of every last thing to show you all!! I'm working on new templates for baby announcements, graduation announcements, engagements, storyboards, oh my! You'll have plenty to choose from, and I promise... you won't be disappointed!

I'm also working on a page specifically for seniors. I've still got a few rep spots open for 2010, by the way!! JUMP ON IT!! If you or anyone you know has a child graduating in the class of 2010, please don't let this opportunity pass you by!! You'll receive a free portrait session and your choice of a lay-flat book or two accordian wallet albums. Everything is custom designed just for your senior, so no two will look alike, unlike those stuffy portrait studios that pose and cheese the heck out of you!

Whew. I believe that's all I was going to say for the night. Well, I'm sure I'll think of more tomorrow. ;)

Easier, Smaller Price List!

Hello again. :)

I know that you guys are wondering when in the WORLD I'll stop picking and prodding at my website, price list, blog... aaahhhhhh!!!

The time is nearing, I promise! After speaking with several different clients and photographers over my old price list and options, I've decided to narrow everything down to make it easier for us all, and more customizable for you!! This price list will go into effect on June 1st. Any quotes or sessions booked before June 1st may choose to keep the old pricing or the new pricing, but this does not apply to any sessions booked June 1st or later!!

Here's the new price list!

Mini Session $100
~ up to 45 minutes
~ up to 5 people
~ 30 proofs
~ $25 minimum purchase / print credit

Regular Session $150
~ up to 3hr
~ up to 5 people
~ unlimited proofs
~ $50 minimum purchase / print credit

Add-Ons
~ extra person/animal $10
~ extra hour $50

That's it! Wedding packages will stay the same for now, and all other sessions will fall under one of those two categories, whether it's a newborn session, family, or senior.

Hopefully this will knock down on some confusion and overwhelming with a ton of proofs. :)

The Cat's Outta The Bag!!!

That secret that was up my sleeve is unfolding so quickly and so nicely that I just HAVE to share it with you guys!!!!

Several of my fellow photographer moms from CafeMom and I are involved in a huge project. We're creating a photography magazine. This magazine will appeal to photographers and fellow moms alike. It will contain tips for pros, tips for moms, professional photos, and reader photos. It will give you insight on what it's like to be a photographer, how we do it, and what we love about it. You will see gorgeous portraits, funny snapshots, and everything in-between. I really do think it will be a WONDERFUL thing for everyone!!!

If you have your own business and would like to advertise with us, we have very low advertising rates!! The first issue (coming out June 1st) will be about weddings. Does your business relate in any way to weddings? Photography? Props? Handmade items? Or, are you LOOKING for a wedding photographer? We have photographers all over the US, and many are willing to travel to your location. Let us know, and we will send you advertising information!!! E-mail at breakfastclubphotography@gmail.com and one of our lovely women will get back to you with all of the advertising information you need!

My little leg warmer model

Charlee had the honor recently of modeling some freakin cute leg warmers for Knotty Baby Wear. (Find her link on the side of my page under "Photographers"!!!) If KBW will send more leg warmers, we will model them. LOL. I have tons of ideas for future shoots -- this one was just a plain & simple theme. Next time, we go extravagant. ;)

We still haven't done pictures in any of her halloween costumes. *sigh* That's coming up, I swear!!!
